High potential and gifted education
At Rockley Public School, we are committed to developing each child’s unique strengths through comprehensive High Potential and Gifted Education (HPGE) programs. Students engage with enriching learning experiences in the classroom, across our school community, collaboratively within our regional network, and through opportunities available across New South Wales.

Our students can participate in a wide range of state-wide opportunities that aim to extend and enrich student potential.
What is high potential and gifted education?
High Potential and Gifted Education (HPGE) is how our school supports students with advanced learning needs.
We do this through:
- effective teaching strategies like enrichment, extension and acceleration
- tailored support during lessons that stretch, challenge and inspire
- access to a wide range of opportunities both within and beyond our school.
Our high potential and gifted education opportunities
At Rockley Public School, our teachers provide personalised, evidence-based teaching that identifies and supports the diverse talents of our learners.
Through continuous assessment and open communication with families, each student has a tailored learning plan that challenges them intellectually, creatively, socially, and physically.
Differentiated instruction, open-ended tasks, and inquiry-based projects are integral to our classrooms, inspiring curiosity and resilience. We believe every child benefits from a learning environment that encourages risk-taking, problem-solving, and deep engagement.
As a proud member of the Bathurst Small Schools network, Rockley Public School works closely with neighbouring schools to enhance High Potential and Gifted Education initiatives. Together, we share specialist teachers, resources, and a variety of extra-curricular programs.
